Lil’ Samurai • Ages 4–6

Lil’ Samurai Program

Our Little Samurai Program is a detailed curriculum focused on improving preschool-age children’s basic learning and motor skills. These skills help them enter society with confidence and enthusiasm—becoming better students at school, better listeners at home, and more ambitious toward the future. We believe ages 4–6 are the most important years of development, so we enhance growth in a fun, motivating way that highlights our Dojo motto.

Program Overview

Why Ages 4–6 Matter

Early years set lifelong habits. Lil’ Samurai builds core learning and motor skills that transfer to school and sport, while reinforcing family values through respectful routines and clear expectations.

Pathway to Aikijujutsu

Upon completion, your child will be ready to enter our Children’s Aikijujutsu program—more focused, motivated, and prepared to achieve any goal they set in life through consistent practice and perseverance.

Dojo Kun (Motto)

Patience

Practice patience in everything you do, inside and outside the dojo. Be patient with yourself while learning new things, and patient with your Sensei’s decisions about when to introduce new skills.

Courtesy

Always show respect to your Sensei, parents, teachers, family, and friends. Treat everyone as you would like to be treated, showing kindness, gratitude, and good manners.

Self-Control

Know your abilities and limitations. Controlling your body can be simple, but controlling your mind, heart, and emotions takes daily effort. Master yourself so others cannot control you.

Perseverance

Try your best and complete what you start. No matter how hard it gets—stick with it, never surrender, and do not give up!

18 Lil’ Samurai Skills

#1 — Focus
This skill helps your child’s aim, listening, and reaction skills. They will excel faster in physical activities, become a better listener, and be a more focused student in school.
#2 — Teamwork
Teamwork is necessary for any young child to develop. The more confidence your child has while working with others, the more they will accomplish—building character, making new friends, and becoming a better leader in life.
#3 — Control
Having control means making good decisions. Whether handling a pet or a problem, your child will learn to make the right choices. Control builds confidence.
#4 — Balance
A crucial early skill. As your child takes on physical challenges—like learning to ride a bike—good balance and posture prevent falls and improve overall movement.
#5 — Memory
Developing a good memory exercises the brain. Our drills help your child think, remember sequences, and make smart decisions in and out of class.
#6 — Discipline
We use Lil’ Samurai drills to show that discipline is fun and rewarding. Children take pride in doing the right thing— inside the dojo, at home, and at school.
#7 — Fitness
Children learn the importance of being healthy and physically fit. Burning off energy through exercise builds strength, coordination, and positive habits.
#8 — Coordination
Your child will learn left from right and develop whole-body coordination—becoming a better participant in sports and sustaining fewer injuries.
#9 — Courtesy
Proper use of “please,” “thank you,” “you’re welcome,” “Sir,” and “Ma’am.” Students build a courteous attitude, refrain from discourteous behavior, and learn to forgive and forget.
#10 — Cooperation
Learning to cooperate with parents, siblings, classmates, and friends—emphasized by encouraging students to work together and help each other succeed.
#11 — Responsibility
Take personal responsibility for actions and inactions. Think before acting, do what you say you will do, and be responsible for uniform, belt, and arriving promptly to class.
#12 — Integrity / Trustworthiness
Be honest and forthright with instructors, adults, and peers. Do not cheat, lie, or steal. Key phrase: “What would a Black Belt do?”
#13 — Anger Management
Learn not to lose your temper or react in anger to unpleasant circumstances. We emphasize conflict resolution and healthy ways to manage emotions.
#14 — Initiative
Beyond following rules and directions—recognize what needs to be done and do it without constant reminders.
#15 — Problem Solving
Take initiative to fix problems and come up with your own solutions to situations at home and in the dojo.
